Mom's Italian Beef These values are averages based on about 4 recipes that my mom references. Every time she makes italian beef, it comes out different, so feel free to adjust the amounts as you wish. 4-6 lb Roast (Chuck or Rump) (Mom usually buys Shoulder) 1 pkg Onion Soup Mix 1 ts Oregano 2 ts Basil 1/4-1/2 ts Garlic Powder (some recipes say garlic salt) 1 ts Italian Seasoning 1/4-1/2 ts Black Pepper 1 ts Salt 1/2 ts Red Pepper Flakes 1/2 ts Onion Salt (not in all recipes) 1 Tbsp Mustard 1 Tbsp Worcestire sauce 2 cu Water (only needed for slow roasting in crock pot) Cook overnight or 8 hours. When it done cooking, you should cool it down before slicing it. If it is in firm pieces, you can slice it, otherwise pull it into small pieces. Reheat before serving.
